Fairytale of New York mit Texten, die in einem speziellen Video gespielt wurden, das wir f\u00fcr UMC Utrecht aufgenommen haben. Das Gurgeln der Melodie mit Whisky begann als Witz, als wir dieses Lied zum ersten Mal lernten. Wenn Sie wirklich kein Instrument spielen k\u00f6nnen, k\u00f6nnen Sie das Getr\u00e4nk immer verwenden, wir haben es seitdem behalten. Wir haben die Chormelodie am Ende erweitert, weil wir diesen Teil des Songs lieben.<\/p>\n

Background Info<\/h2>\n

Fairytale of New York von The Pogues wurde 2019 erneut zum beliebtesten Weihnachtslied Gro\u00dfbritanniens gew\u00e4hlt. Wir spielen es das ganze Jahr \u00fcber und es ist eines unserer gefragtesten Lieder, seit wir damit angefangen haben! „Fairytale of New York“ ist ein Song, der von Jem Finer und Shane MacGowan geschrieben und von ihrer Band The Pogues mit dem Singer-Songwriter Kirsty MacColl am Gesang aufgenommen wurde. Das Lied ist eine irische Ballade im Folk-Stil und wurde als Duett geschrieben, wobei der Pogues-S\u00e4nger MacGowan die Rolle der m\u00e4nnlichen Figur und MacColl die weibliche Figur \u00fcbernahm.<\/p>\n

Obwohl sich die Band einig ist, dass „Fairytale of New York“ erstmals 1985 geschrieben wurde, sind die Urspr\u00fcnge des Songs umstritten. MacGowan bestand darauf, dass es aufgrund einer Wette des damaligen Produzenten der Pogues, Elvis Costello, entstand, dass die Band keine Weihnachtshit-Single schreiben k\u00f6nne, w\u00e4hrend der Manager der Pogues, Frank Murray, dies erkl\u00e4rte urspr\u00fcnglich seine Idee, dass die Band versuchen sollte, ein Weihnachtslied zu schreiben, da er dachte, es w\u00e4re „interessant“.<\/p>\n

Der Banjo-Spieler Finer entwickelte die Melodie und das urspr\u00fcngliche Konzept f\u00fcr den Song, der in der Grafschaft Clare an der Westk\u00fcste Irlands spielt. Dabei ging es um einen Seemann in New York, der \u00fcber den Ozean blickte und sich daran erinnerte, wieder in Irland zu sein. Finers Frau Marcia mochte die urspr\u00fcngliche Seefahrergeschichte nicht und schlug neue Texte bez\u00fcglich eines Gespr\u00e4chs zwischen einem Paar zu Weihnachten vor. Finer sagte zu NME: „Ich hatte zwei Songs mit Melodien geschrieben, einer hatte eine gute Melodie und Misttexte, der andere hatte die Idee f\u00fcr ‚Fairytale‘, aber die Melodie war poxy, ich gab sie beide Shane und er gab ihr einen Broadway.“ Melodie, und da war es.<\/p>\n
