\u201cWe’re all Scotland’s story and we’re all worth the same” Mooie woorden uit dit nummer, we vonden het zo geweldig dat we besloten om onze laatste plaat Scotland’s Story te noemen en de theatershows van 2021\/2022 naar dit album te noemen.<\/p>\n
Het is ook een beetje persoonlijk voor David Myles, omdat sommige mensen misschien weten dat zijn vader uit Schotland komt, dus een deel van zijn verhaal begon daar. Dus nu hebben we haggis en doedelzakken in Nederland.<\/p>\n
In de woorden van William, Schotland verwelkomt iedereen en iedereen draagt bij aan het verhaal van schotland. Iedereen draagt bij aan de cultuur van Schotland op alle mogelijke vlakken, Haggis is niet meer alleen het nationale gerecht, William genoot van Pizza en Shoarma daar.<\/p>\n
Oorspronkelijk door The Proclaimers, werd een versie van dit nummer gespeeld tijdens het welkom van Nelson Mandela in 1993 in de stad Glasgow na zijn vrijlating uit de gevangenis. Hij kreeg de symbolische sleutels van de stad 12 jaar eerder, in 1981, terwijl hij nog in de gevangenis zat. Het speciale bezoek was een geweldige gelegenheid voor veel zang en dans, het dansen werd gedaan door Nelson Mandela zelf op het podium tijdens een rally for freedom.<\/p>\n
Nelson Mandela’s Welcome to the city of Glasgow is de tune die we aan het einde van het nummer op de doedelzak spelen. Een absoluut briljante tune van Blair Douglas, een van de oprichters van Runrig. We hebben per ongeluk de tekst van de Proclaimers aan dit deuntje gekoppeld en dit heeft uiteindelijk een geweldig nummer en een geweldig verhaal opgeleverd.<\/p>\n
